The 21st Annual Folk for MS concert took place on Saturday 12th June 2010 at the Old Mill Hall, Grove
Despite clashing with England’s first World Cup game a dedicated and enthusiastic crowd turned up for the FfMS concert and they were rewarded by an excellent night of quality from start to finish (unfortunately that's more than can be said for the poor football watchers!)
Oxford-based multi-instrumental group Moonrakers kicked off the night with a polished set of both traditional and self-penned songs and tunes. Lovely singing and good musicianship, including the sublime addition of a harp. Artisan then proved that after a break of 5 years they have lost none of their magic or power, with a set that included many of their biggest hits! It was great to hear them again the audience certainly agreed, giving Artisan a rousing reception. Having travelled down from N.Yorkshire, one of the revelations of the night was Rebekah Findlay, whose sublime voice and thoughtful songs won her many new fans. The set was enriched by the presence on stage of Rebekah’s friend Joolz Cavell on a range of percussive instruments. The evening was brought to a superb climax by singer/guitarist Bob Fox. Bob had the audience, laughing, singing along and then clapping wildly with his excellent set of traditional and contemporary songs. Finally, with everyone in the hall singing “The Rambling Rover”, the 21st annual Folk for MS concert drew to a close.
